In the West, faith and politics are often entangled in ways that distort the heart of the gospel. Christian nationalism claims to speak with biblical authority, yet too often reduces scripture to a tool for power, selectively applying it to reinforce agendas while overlooking the command that stands above all: to love God and love our neighbor.

Scripture has become weaponized to defend policies and win elections, but the very people Jesus told us to care for—the poor and marginalized are left unseen. This project seeks to hold that contradiction in view, the contrast between proclaimed Christian values and the lived reality of those neglected throughout our streets.

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the son of man is?"

They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"

Simon Peter answered, "You are the messiah, the son of the living God."
